You now can export your Figma components directly into Zeplin and they will appear in the Components tab of your project styleguide. The Components tab includes your common user interface elements and shows you which screens are using these components in the project as well.
Exporting components works exactly the same as exporting frames. Simply select a component or multiple components (which are usually located in the Components section in your Figma file) and press Shift + Command + E to open up the export panel in Figma. There, select the Zeplin tab and press “Export”. You can also export them through the menu up top in Figma: “File > Export”.
Once you export your Components into Zeplin, they will be listed under the Components tab.
☝️ Keep in mind that all components are treated the same as frames. When exporting a component, make sure it's not within a frame so it can be exported into Zeplin as a component, instead of a screen.
Generating assets from components
If you'd like for these components to be available as assets in a screen, you will need to make the component instance exportable on the Frame in Figma. You can learn how to do this here: Exporting assets from Figma
We're currently working on improving this, so that you can only make the component itself exportable and all instance will inherit that setting.
