Organizing screens in a project is key to keeping things clear and efficient, especially as designs grow. With AI Organize, you can now let Zeplin do the heavy lifting.
This new feature uses AI to automatically organize your selected screens into sections and variants, based on how they’re named and arranged in your design tool.
✨ AI Organize is currently in beta. Ping us at support@zeplin.io if you want to join!
How AI Organize works
Normally, you can organize screens manually by creating sections, subsections, and screen variants. With AI Organize, Zeplin analyzes the selected screens and suggests a smart structure instantly.
When you click Organize screens with AI, Zeplin reviews:
Screen names
Their position in the design file
Design file page
Design file name
Based on this information, Zeplin groups and organizes your screens accordingly:
If screens have related names (like Dashboard Default and Dashboard Scrolled), Zeplin assumes they belong to the same user flow or feature and groups them into a section.
If screens are grouped by common name roots like Login Screen - Empty, Login Screen - Filled, or Login Screen - Error, Zeplin identifies them as variants of the same screen and groups them accordingly.
If screens are arranged with intent in the design file, Zeplin considers their layout, whether close together or apart, to help determine how they should be grouped into a section.
☝️ AI Organize is currently:
Optimized for organizing new screens
Not yet optimized for reorganizing existing sections/variants
We recommend using it when adding new screens to a project, or before manually structuring your content.
How to use AI Organize
You can use AI Organize in projects that don’t have any sections yet. If your project already has sections, make sure to select screens that are either within the same section or not in a section at all.
Select multiple screens in a project
Click the “Organize screens” button at the footer menu
Select “Organize screens with AI”
(Coming soon) Add a prompt (optional) to guide the AI—this can be anything specific you want it to consider while organizing, like "Group onboarding screens" or “Create a section called Dialog and put every dialog screen underneath”
Review the generated structure—you can confirm the changes or revert back if needed, and save the organization
You can always adjust the organization manually afterward, just like you would with any other section or variant.
