Who can use this feature?
Advanced, Team, Organization, or Enterprise plans
Only members with an Editor or higher role.
Annotation types enable you to categorize annotations (for example: Behavior, Animation, API) so that requirements remain organized and easy to filter. You can use the predefined annotation types or create new types and manage them at the workspace or project level.
Adding and editing annotation types
In order to create a new annotation type or edit an existing one, you can hover over the "Add annotation" button at the bottom and then click "Customize" to open the customization panel.
You can rename or delete an annotation type by right-clicking on that type from the customization panel.
You can also reorder annotation types by dragging and dropping them to the desired location on the customization panel.
πββοΈ Annotation types can only be reordered within the same level; it is not possible to move a workspace annotation type to the project-specific types section and vice versa.
Annotation types
You can create annotations that your team can use across all projects in your workspace, or limit them to a specific project.
Workspace types
Zeplin has predefined types for workspace-level: Behavior, Requirement, Animation, API, and Tracking. Workspace Owners, Admins, and Editors can update the predefined types and add new ones from the customization panel. These types can be used for all projects under the workspace.
Project-specific types
You'll see that project-level annotation types are empty by default. You can consider using these when a project needs a set of types that differ from the workspace defaults.
πββοΈ When adding or editing an annotation, workspace, and project-specific types are listed together to allow you to select easily from either level. You'll see a separator in the list to be able to differentiate them.
