You can use Tag Groups to communicate better about the latest updates on your screens, track development progress, and assign screens to project members.

Click the "+ Add tag group" option at the top left to create a tag group. You'll have 3 types of tag group suggestions: Default, Member, and Status.

After you create the tag groups and their tags, you can add tags to the screens within the Tag manager. To open it, select the screens you want to tag with and use ⌥ + T / Alt + T on the Web app/Windows app and ⌥ + T or ⌘ + T on the Mac app. You’ll also see the "Add tag…" or "Manage tags…" options on the footer menu at the bottom of the app and when you right-click on a screen.

Tag group types

Default

This is the default tag group that you can use to organize your screens according to your use cases.

Member

You can use the Member tag group to assign project members to screens. Once you select it, Zeplin will suggest your project members as tags. You can create tags for all members of your project.

💁‍♀️ Member tag will send an in-app notification, an email notification, and a Slack notification. If you want your project member to receive an email notification when you assign them a screen, make sure that they enable their notifications. They can manage notification preferences by visiting the Notification Settings, located in the avatar — learn more.

Status

You can use the Status tag group to organize screens in your workspace in a way to track their progress, such as “In Review”, “Blocked“, or “Released”.

💁‍♀️ Status tags will also send an in-app notification, an email notification, and a Slack notification. If you want to receive an email notification when a screen status is updated, you can manage your notification preferences by visiting the Notification Settings, located in the avatar — learn more.

💁‍♀️ When you request approvals in your project, a reserved tag group named “Approval Status” will be created to help you identify and filter the screens based on their approval requests. Check out this article for more details.

Showing screen statuses on thumbnails

To see the current status of each screen on top of them, you can enable the “Show status on thumbnails” option. This way, Zeplin will show the color codes of status tags on your screen thumbnails.

You can change the color of Status tags from the options that appear when you right-click.
