When you make changes to your plan, it goes into effect immediately and you are billed/credited a prorated amount for the new plan starting on that day.

Prorate means we calculate the amount of time you have left in your current billing cycle for your initial plan and add it to your account as a credit to use towards upcoming payments on your new plan.

The prorated amount is calculated based on the date when the plan changed to the next billing date. You'll see line items in your invoice adding a credit for your initial plan and billing you the difference for the new plan.

You'll also see the credit amount in the Billing tab of your profile:

☝️ When you change your plan’s billing cycle ( from monthly to annual or from annual to monthly), your billing cycle will be updated starting on the date you made the change. Otherwise, your billing cycle stays the same (i.e. when you switch from the monthly Starter plan to the monthly Growing Business plan).

Changing the billing cycle

You subscribed to the monthly Starter plan ($19), and after 10 days, you changed your plan to the annual Starter plan ($204).

  • Since your billing cycle resets the date you made the change, we calculate the credit for unused time left in your initial plan.
  • The credit is deducted from the price of the annual Starter plan and you are billed for this remaining prorated amount, around $192.

Upgrading plan on the same billing cycle

You subscribed to the monthly Starter plan ($19), and after 10 days, you changed your plan to the monthly Growing Business plan ($29).

  • Since your billing cycle stays the same for this upgrade, we calculate the credit for the unused time left in your initial plan, and the remaining time left for the new plan selected.
  • The credit is deducted from the amount being billed for the Growing Business plan and you are billed for the remaining prorated amount, around $6.70.

Upgrading plan from monthly to annual

You subscribed to the monthly Starter plan ($19), and after 10 days, you changed your plan to the annual Growing Business plan ($312).

  • Since your billing cycle resets on the date you made the change, we calculate the credit for unused time left in your initial plan.
  • The credit is deducted from the price of the annual Growing Business plan and you are billed for this remaining prorated amount, around $299.40.

Downgrading plan with different billing cycle

You subscribed to the base annual Organization plan with 12 seats ($1,548), and after 10 months, you changed your plan to the monthly Growing Business plan ($29).

  • Since your billing cycle resets on the date you made the change, we calculate the credit for unused time left in your initial plan (the credit amount will be around $258).
  • The price of the monthly Growing Business plan is deducted from the credit balance and the remaining credit is added to your account to use for your upcoming monthly payments (around $229 credit amount is added). 

Adding seats on the Organization plan

The base fee for the Organization plan includes 12 seats. As you add more than 12 seats, you’ll be billed at the end of the month for the prorated amount if you’re on the annual billing cycle. If you’re on the monthly billing cycle, you’ll see the prorated amount in your next invoice.

☝️ As you’re inviting members from your Workspace Members page, if you don’t have any seats available and you select Admin, Editor, or Developer as the role, a seat will be added to your organization automatically.

Here is an example:

  • You added 1 user after 1 month you subscribed to the annual Organization plan, you'll be billed for this user at the end of the month for the remaining 11 months. ($10.75/mo per-user * 11 months)
